Selling Crafts on The Internet ( Part 1 )

There are many ways that you can sell in the online world so I am going to break this topic into a set of related posts that will enlarge over time.

One point that is worth making is that it is actually a physical problem that becomes a major headache when selling crafts online.

Packaging.  This is a very real issue as sending something halfway across the world is very different than popping in the back of the car with a few tissue papers wrapped around your item.

Before you sell online please ensure that you understand how to package your crafts and what insurance will cost before you post any prices up. Your profit can very quickly disappear without well thought out logistics.

Generally there are a few avenues that can be used online. Each area deserves special mention and will be enlarged on in separate posts.

  1. Ebay or country specific auction sites
  2. Online Craft directories.
  3. Your own website - Sub domain or top level domains.
  4. Online classified advertising
  5. Online business directories

All of the marketing areas above can work well if well understood and implemented. Following posts will expand on each area.
